Ingredients

Main
  • 2 oz vodka or gin Use quality vodka or gin for the best flavor.
  • 1 oz limoncello A sweet Italian lemon liqueur.
Garnish
  • 1 lemon twist For garnish, express the oils over the drink.

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Martini glass
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Strainer
  • Vegetable peeler or paring knife

Method

  1. Begin by chilling your martini glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes before serving. A cold glass enhances cocktail presentation and taste.
  2. Add ice cubes to your cocktail shaker, filling it about halfway. Pour 2 oz of vodka or gin into the shaker over the ice, followed by 1 oz of limoncello. Measure accurately for the perfect flavor balance.
  3. Secure the lid tightly on your shaker and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. You should hear the ice moving around, which helps chill and dilute the mixture.
  4. Remove your chilled martini glass from the freezer. Strain the cocktail mixture through the shaker's built-in strainer or a fine-mesh strainer to avoid ice chips in your drink.
  5. Create a lemon twist by using a vegetable peeler to remove a long, thin strip of lemon peel. Twist it over the drink to release the citrus oils before dropping it into the glass as a garnish.

Notes

Keep everything ice-cold for the best results. If you prefer a sweeter drink, use gin as it complements the limoncello's sweetness. Store limoncello in the freezer for impromptu cocktails. Quality ingredients make a significant difference.
