thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith or other tart variety)
3/4
cup
sugar

tbsp
all-purpose flour

ground cinnamon
I use Vietnamese

ground nutmeg
I often substitute with allspice or cardomon

tbsp
lemon juice
1
double-crust
pie pastry
I use Pilsbury or Tenderflake
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425°F
In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
Roll out the bottom pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pan. Fill with the apple mixture.
Roll out the top crust and place it over the apples. Trim and crimp the edges to seal.
Cut a few small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Let cool before serving.
Notes
To serve it like at Murray's Restaurant, add a slice of aged cheddar cheese.
